First published in 1926, The murder of Roger Acroyd is one of the most ingenious novels of all times. It is close to perfection and if you choose to read it you are guaranteed to be blown away either you are a fan of the genre or not.
The book is narrated by Dr. James Sheppard, who assists the famous detective Hercule Poirot sort out clues and find the murderer of Roger Acroyd.
The structure is brilliant and stimulates the mind of the reader all the way through until the very last line. You will be stunned, startled, suspicious of every character and you most certainly will deserve a "Genius Award" if by any chance you happen to detect the murderer - which is highly unlikely even if you are a hardcore fan of mystery/detective novels.
The innovative twist ending will make you start from the beginning again to spot all the clues that were right under your nose - and there are many of them! Agatha Christie actually tells us who the murderer is, the information is there for us to simply read. But it's extremely difficult to see, even though it's not concealed and that is the very element of her amazing work that distinguishes her from all the other authors. It is trully superb work, a masterpiece without a doubt.
